Tawny Ports are of two distinct types. The younger is usually called a "Fine Tawny". The other is called Aged Tawny. They are blended wines brought to maturity in wood for ten, twenty, thirty, sometimes forty years, depending on the characteristics of the young wine. It has to age to perfection.

Barros Tawny 40 Years Old -
A wine of an exceptional quality, obtained by the lotation of several harvests, in order to acquire a complementarity of organoleptic characteristics typical of this style aged tawny. Aromas of butterscotch and caramel, possibly also some maple. Significant but non-obtrusive alcohol. Some cedar or sandalwood. Dark rusty orange Palette: Medium full body, but thin palate. Soft, rounded and elegant. Vanilla and some light toasted oak.
